For Greatfearhashe
Who: Anakin (greatfearhashe) and Padme
What: comfort after a long day
When: Now
Where: Padme's apartment on Coruscant
Rating/Warnings: NA for now
The day had been filled with one committee meeting after another, and Padmé wondered if her presence at any of them had made a significant difference. Today was a day she felt all her attempts to promote diplomacy and peaceful negotiations were in vain.
Increasingly, it felt more and more like the Senate was cracking under her feet. She understood politics was a sail skiff on the waves, but now, more than ever, it seems to feel like the ship was lost at sea without a captain. Or perhaps there were too many captains trying to seize control.
She was tired of this war, and if she was honest, she was afraid of what it was doing to the Republic.
She was home now and trying to take a moment to breathe. She rubbed at her temples and told C-3PO to send every call to message and to tell anyone connected to the Senate who dared seek her out in person--well she almost told C-3PO they could shove their pandering up their darkest orifice. But no, she composed herself enough to tell her droid that she would not receive their visit tonight. She planned to not do more than just live as a person tonight.
A cup of tea in hand, she stood looking out over the Coruscant night skyline. A trillion stars masked by the constant lights of a city planet that never slept. Every light before her its own star in and of itself. She loved her work. And in her mind this city planet was connected to that love by association.
Lost in thoughts about first the Senate, then thoughts schooling herself for slipping back into work-mode, she almost didn’t notice that one constellation of stars break away from the rest and draw closer.
Her back tensed and she rubbed at her eyes, preparing mentally for trying to keep herself from working more than necessary. But when the light materialized into a shape as comforting as the concept of home itself, she breathed easier, the tension in her shoulders released.
And she smiled.

The Force, itself, felt stronger around her. She made him feel like he could do anything. He was often afraid of what might happen to her. The war had taken so much from him, so many people from him. He worried so much hat he might lose her.
He wanted just to be with her. He sighed as he piloted the ship toward her pavilion. At last. As he landed, he leaped out, almost running toward where she should be.

Funny that she could evenly sit across from a diplomat from a hostile planet and let inflammatory remarks about her, Naboo, the Senate, the Republic glance off her like stardust glittering against a starship's shielding. She could debate any member of Senate without a tremble. She defied assassins without hesitation.
But love - Anakin's love - was a wild thing that melted away her armor and laid her out vulnerably.
At first she'd only planned on meeting him at the door, but that look in his eye, the slope of his shoulder, drew her to him as he crossed the landing.
"Anakin?" The question quick and caring. Her hands went up to his face. "What's wrong?"

He smiled softly at her. "It's been a rough day, a rough week. TYhe war... is not going well." He scrubbed his hand across his eyes, and black singe marks would be visible along his wrists as his outfit's sleeves fell downward.
He'd been electrocuted, again, badly, even if he was already physically recovering, but it had stopped him long enough to make him nearly lose Ashoka. That, along with recent events, and the seeming loss of Master Kenobi only a week before? It was telling, and he felt... tired. So tired.
"I just wanted to see you." He had needed to see her, and it told in his voice and his eyes.

She pulled him into the tightest embrace she could give him.
But his clothes smelled like they looked, burnt and crispy.
"Anakin, come inside," she smiled softly when she pulled back. Of course he would head straight here instead of returning to his quarters at the Temple and changing. "Your robes are going to crumble off you any second, and if we are going to get caught, I'd at least like us maintain some dignity in our scandal."

Sometimes, he was scared with her, but with her around him, it felt like he was stronger.
He nodded an followed her, and chuckled as she spoke. Looking down, he sighed. "Sorry, of course. We can go inside. Maybe I can borrow one of your robes..." They were small, but still.
